Maurizio Pellizzoni was commissioned to re-design the interior of this luxury, open plan apartment in the Albion Riverside development. The building is a mixed-use space and the challenge was to inject warmth into the interior. The client wanted two distinct looks; one for summer and one for winter, with interchangeable accessories and furnishings. Maurizio created a white linen interior for summer and a palette of gold, brown and black for winter. The loose covers, gold accessories, and Persian rugs can be removed and stored away. The client’s personal collection of books, artworks and antiques were also incorporated into the scheme.
The brief was to create a warm and welcoming home-environment whilst retaining the airy open-plan accommodation. The client requested two distinct looks for the summer and winter season with interchangeable accessories and furnishings inspired by the Ralph Lauren lifestyle.
Maurizio created a white linen summer look accessorised with white orchids that would enhance the riverside setting in summer months. For winter, a colour palette of gold, brown and black were chosen for warmth. The loose covers, gold accessories, and Persian rugs are easily removed and stored away for the summer period. The client had a collection of art books, original artwork and antiques that Maurizio Pellizzoni Ltd incorporated into the scheme.
The re-design was a general upgrade of all that had been done beforehand including architectural fittings and decoration. The modern building was a mixed-use development and the challenge was injecting warmth into the interior. Fabrics from J Robert Scott, Sacho Hesslein and DeLeCuona were used alongside key furniture pieces from Ralph Lauren. Antiques, Persian rugs and artefacts were used to give character.
"Ever since I was a little girl, I have always dreamt to live by Albert Bridge and watch the river lit by this beautiful bridge at night. My dream came true and had the opportunity to buy three flats and turn them into one, in the Norman Foster’s new development “The Albion Riverside”.
We commissioned a top interior designer to do it up. Because she was famous, she was set in her own mind, on what she liked rather than what I liked. She turned this enormous living room, which overlooks onto the river and Albert Bridge into Grey and white, totally modern. The pieces she has chosen were exquisite and every detail was beautiful, but I couldn’t settle in my own home. I couldn’t sit for one minute in the living room and enjoy the beautiful view.
I kept on going to Ralph Lauren’s Furniture show room and wouldn’t want to leave. I would sit there for as long as it was appropriate and move from one room to another, frustrated for not being able to turn my beautiful space into that beautiful taste.
One day, this beautiful, manager of one of Ralph Lauren’s.... came to me and asked if I would like to be introduced to the gentleman that designed those rooms, and perhaps he could help me in my decisions, of course I said yes and thanked her.
That Gentleman was Maurizio Pellizzoni. The minute he came in from my front door, I shook his hand and felt safe, I felt that this angel is going to do a fantastic job, and I was right.
He said that the reason why I couldn’t settle in my house because the colors were very cold and I am a warm person.
He asked me a lot of questions on colors and what kind of furniture I like, he took time in knowing my character and met my whole family and decided on what to do immediately.
To my surprise he changed everything to warm traditional colors and classic furniture but kept it modern.
Because I love white, he was so clever to make me white loose covers that I put on the sofas and I get a totally new look for the summer. He has helped me in every small detail, by choosing all the accessories and the plants, which turned my house into a by far more beautiful room, that the Ralph Lauren's show rooms.
I don’t need to go there now anymore, thanks to this wonderful, kind gentleman, and highly talented."
