With glorious views overlooking the common, this imposing and spacious late-Victorian townhouse in Parsons Green was chosen by a young, growing family relocating from New York as their new forever home. Maurizio Pellizzoni was appointed to redesign the entire 3400 sq.ft home that’s’ spread magnificently across a total of five floors with six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. A previously extended kitchen was completely reconfigured and the basement was redesigned featuring a cinema room, wine cellar, second cloakroom, second guest bedroom with en suite bathroom and a large laundry room. The large loft conversion features a gym and a large bathroom. There’s an abundance of light throughout the entire property, from being perfectly adjacent to the open common, to the striking floor to ceiling glass panels, skylights and even a partial-glass floor.
The owners wanted a modern city home that incorporated the ‘Americano’ look and drew on Maurizio for his experience and expertise at Ralph Lauren. They wanted to find a balance in the overall design that accommodated fast paced city living and the ambiance of relaxing in the Hamptons where they spend most summers. Practically, the home needed to be child friendly and remain spacious enough to host family and friends regularly visiting from the USA.
A ten month project, Maurizio put his own stamp on the interior and drew inspiration from the iconic Ralph Lauren collections to create the unequivocally recognisable and timeless aesthetic by using an abundance of elegant layers and an eclectic New England style colour scheme. This strong American influence worked harmoniously with the selection of oversized furniture and lighting to complement the property as a whole, increasing a natural flow throughout. Accented with an abundance of layers, textures and detail, Maurizio used a mixture of luxurious fabrics for the furniture upholstery, mixing velvets, cottons and linens. The feature wallpaper in the formal sitting room is a custom made linen wallpaper, which exudes a natural deluxe finish in the room. Flawless in design, the modern touches ensured the American influence wasn’t overly imposing in the scheme and Maurizio’s signature style of modern, timeless elegance created a harmonious balance. Custom design features throughout the kitchen, including the island, a stunning White Carerra marble top, bespoke cabinetry and dining table with a large fitted corner bench, all designed meticulously around the lifestyle needs of the whole family. The navy blue cabinets that flow naturally into the formal dining area are also custom made and feature an extraordinarily beautiful Imperador marble top with distinguishable white veins.
A concept to create a lifestyle experience in each and every room was implemented to represent the clients and worked closely with them to understand them as people and their needs. Cosy, subtle luxury, quality, elegance and exquisite attention to detail are touches with an ode to Ralph Lauren. Maurizio worked tirelessly to establish the original architectural details, from the cornices in the hall archway, which had too many layers of paint and had lost its stunning architectural detail, to restoring the original staircase to perfection.
